Where can I buy fabrics in London?
A lot of our customers always ask us where they can get fabric from in London. This is no easy feat when you want to create a collection fabric is almost the most important, most expensive, most challenging aspect of the production process. We will go into more detail in a later post.
We have compiled a small list of places that we know of in different areas of London which will hopefully be of some use to you;
South East London
Peter & Joan -119 Deptford High St, London SE8 4NS 020 8692 2800
Nice friendly family run business who sell an array of household goods as well as a nice little haberdashery section where you can get beads, zips, buttons, thread, wool, cotton, pattern cutting paper, calico, and much much more. It has saved my life on many occasions and being close to our studio is a big plus. Also it is nice to go to a shop where the customer service is good.

East London
Brick Lane- There are a couple of shops located at the south end of the street where they sell basic fabrics like cotton, stretch and jersey.
There are also a few surrounding stores in the area.
Wool crest textiles - 6 Well St, London E9 7PX
020 8985 3686

Huge warehouse full of fabrics. They buy fabric by the palette load and once its gone, it may just be gone forever. Like in the name they sell a lot of wool sometimes cashmere. This shop is a gem for startups and designers, the selection of different fabric types may be limited, but they have very good toiling fabrics, cottons, calicos, as well as for sampling. And the icing on the fabric case must be that the most expensive fabric is £7.00 a metre!!! (last time we checked.) And that is a steal in a city like London.

West London - Goldhawk road
This is a road in shepherds bush that hosts a few fabric shops.
This road is probably one of the best streets in London for affordable fabrics. You can find natural as well as synthetics and a very big variety of fabrics in general.
If you plan on fabric browsing then you should maybe give yourself 2-3hours to visit all the shops and get a good look around. Also it is always good to compare the different shops and see where you can get the best fabrics and deals.
The staff in the shops tend to be very approachable and helpful.
